What I wear to school and a bit of sewing

Today I broke the rules! I wore white before memorial day. Please forgive me all the fashionistas out there. In my defense this skirt is quite comfortable even if it is past its best days. I purchased it right after my second child was born. I find skirts are more forgiving when I am at a heavier weight. So besides being feminie and modest they are also more comfortable. There is actually more freedom in movement and no unsightly muffin to that jeans can produce.

Yesterday was a holiday as you know, and my military husband had the day off. After school I was able to go to Hobby Lobby and buy some new fabric and skirt pattern.  (We did get to spend some quality time together while I worked on the skirt and he worked on his stamp collection. The tv was off and we were able to chat and just enjoy being side by side.) I am a beginning seamstress so I have been working on elastic waist skirts. I am hoping to soon learn adding a zipper so I can more to more structured designs.
My sewing partner Smithers who gets quite angry when you try to push her off the fabric!

I made pattern D
Maybe this skirt will make it on a later post!

  1. Oh, I have a beautiful white skirt that was gifted to me and I completely can't wait to wear it! Waiting until May is killing me! ;) It's nice to see you didn't go by the fashion rules. I may do the same! :)
