Compliments for Cookies

Today I am sharing a recipe for Pumpkin Pie Cookies! I know, I know it's almost spring time aren't we long done with pumpkin. I will endeavor to change your mind or at least give you a recipe you can pocket. These cookies are so light in taste not heavy in the tummy like most autumnal pumpkin fare.
I most recently made them for my husband to take to a pot luck at work. He said they were all gone while the store bought cookies remained on the table. Then when we attended a banquet for work a soldier came and gave praise for the cookies so I guess they made an impression.
I also would make these for a pastor bible study at our previous church. I was the only one in the class under 70. I enjoyed bringing a sweet snack for my classmates. They seemed to enjoy the gesture and I felt good to make them smile and to have an extra treat to take home as well.

After all that bragging I must confess this is not my recipe it was found on www.cooks.com So share with me in compliments and the cookies!

Jeremiah (California) says:

These cookies can be eaten plain, with simple powdered sugar dusted on top or a powered sugar icing. It just depends on the sweetness of your tooth!

Share them if you wish or keep them at home, they will be sure to please.

Be Still!

Be still pillow

We have all heard "Be Still, and know that I am God" we see it on plaques and journal covers, mugs, pillows, wall hangings and on and on. I agree it is a wonderful sentiment that we always need reminding of. But how one reads this scripture can make all the difference. I always saw this scripture out of context and read it more like a whisper. That God was telling me to let go of the hustle and bustle and relax in his assurance. Almost a Calgon moment of sweetness.  The Lord of course wants this rest for us.

In other scripture Jesus tells us: Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. Matthew 11:29 KJV. This command is for the person to cast off worldly cares and put on the cares of the Lord, to rest in him.

Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth! Psalm 46:10 KJV

This is the Lord speaking to Israel that in all certainty he reigns and that the nations will follow as He decides. Here is the verse in context:
He makes wars cease to the end of the earth;
He breaks the bow and cuts the spear in two;
He burns the chariot in the fire.
10 Be still, and know that I am God;
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth!
11 The Lord of hosts is with us;
The God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah

Don't miss when God tells you of himself of his awesome power. I am challenged each time I think of this verse to Stop immediately! Get prostate if need be and Know (as much as my feeble mind can) the God of all nations and  of this universe.
Then you will understand the fear of the Lord, And find the knowledge of God
Psalm 2:5 KJV

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, But fools despise wisdom and instruction. Psalm 1:7 KJV

This gets me thinking outside of my self and on to God. I am not in control He is.  This is wonderful and this is true refuge. He is saying don't worry about warring "nations" in your life, I am your refuge. I feel it is no whisper, but it is with strength and unimaginable power that he speaks to us.

I challenge you dear reader that next time you pass by this verse on a pillow or wall plaque not to only see the verse as a sweet sentiment. That in your mind or aloud say it with verve and stout feeling.
" Be Still and know that I am God"
"I will be exalted among the nations."

Your God is awesome and powerful you can and you will be still in that!

Leaving the House Modestly

It's time to run errands or make a trip to the doctor..... what do I wear?

 I'm starting to build a realistic wardrobe. Trying to find items that are flattering yet feminine. I have had a great time making my own skirts. It does get a little addictive when there are so many pretty fabrics out there and I can make them in a couple hours or less. Tops are easier to find while shopping but I am finding that button up tops work best for my figure and keep their shape better than knit. To keep modest underneath I find simply turning a tank top around gives me a modest neckline. Nothing is more immodest then a modestly dressed woman have to check her decolletage.
Shoes and jewelry can keep a look in touch with today's trends. I love shopping at a local store Charming Charlie's for jewelry that is affordable. The whole store is set up by each color of the rainbow. Sometimes the choices can be so overwhelming that it is best to go in with a plan! I just pierced my ears a year ago if you can believe I like the small touch it brings to the face. I mainly wear stud earrings. My hubby surprised me with these little diamond studs for my birthday so I have been wearing them for the most part. Diamonds go with just about everything and add a little glamour to your day. It also gives my husband pleasure to see me love the gifts he gives me.
I don't know if its the south or how I was raised but make-up is a must for me if I'm leaving the house. We joke that natural childbirth is labor without wearing make up!I do try to use more "natural" colors, mainly peaches.  I was wearing my hair up for ease but I know my husband prefers it curled and partially down at least. He also loves my hair blond so this naturally straight brunette has lots of hair maintenance! To his credit I was a blonde when we met so it wasn't as if he was trying to change me. Four kids has changed this body enough!
